Alice Griffin, a beloved member of the Signature family, passed away on December 6, 2012. The Griffin family is planning a fitting tribute to Alice early next year with details to come. To honor Alice, the family has established the Alice Griffin Fund for New American Plays, which will be managed by the Signature Theatre.

The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre was named for Dr. Griffin by her son and daughter-in-law John and Amy Griffin. Dr. Griffin was a prolific scholar and noted educator who was the author of Shakespeare’s Women in Love, among many other books, including one featuring former Signature Playwright-in-Residence Arthur Miller.

As a tribute to Alice, the Griffins created a website where friends and family can share stories and memories. You can learn more about Alice’s amazing life, the fund, the memorial service and the Alice Griffin Theatre here.
