Spring Gala

2017 Signature Theatre Gala

At the annual gala on May 8, 2017, Signature honored the career of one of America’s most acclaimed contemporary playwrights, Suzan-Lori Parks, as well as the steadfast support of Signature’s official airline, Delta Air Lines.
The event, hosted by Signature Board Chair Edward Norton, included cocktails, dinner, and entertainment. Drawing from Parks’ remarkable career, the program featured Daniel J. Watts performing an inspiring tap dance and spoken word routine, Michael McKean, and Daphne Rubin-Vega singing songs by Parks and a monologue performed by Brandon Dirden. Parks herself even performed one of her songs when accepting her award. Alicia Hall Moran rounded out the evening with a musical tribute. Todd Almond provided musical accompaniment.

Delta Air Lines was awarded the inaugural Margot Adams Signature Theatre Award in honor of their philanthropic spirit and dedication to Signature’s mission.

In addition to celebrating Suzan-Lori Parks and Delta Air Lines, the gala raised funds to support Signature’s unique artistic programs and the Signature Ticket Initiative: A Generation of Access, the company’s longtime commitment to providing affordable theatre tickets for all.

About the honorees:
